Oscars: Is this it? Nominations for original songs fall short, except for Maya

 

This morning the Academy Awards announced their nominations and we were --somewhat-- eager to see their music choices for Best Original Songs. However, we were utterly disappointed to see there's only three nominations!

Are people this lazy in the movie industry that they're not giving artists chances to record anything original for a particular film? As much as we loved both Wall-E and Slumdog we wish we had a little more to choose from for our Oscar bets than this. Check the songs out here and make your prediction. We're going with "O Saya" from Slumdog also penned by our girl M.I.A. (above). We have to say we were pretty psyched to see her nominated. We're hoping she shows up at the Oscars dressed in something outrageously cool we all wish we could pull off. Powah, powah!
