The Best of October (so far) by Terra's Music Crew
Welcome to our new monthly blog where we tell you what we're listening, plus other things worth obsessing over, tell us what's got you going wild in October in the comments. The point is to share and learn from you all.
1. Residente at Los Premios
Calle 13's frontman stirred lots of controversy at Los Premios MTV by wearing provocative shirts and cursing up a storm. Instead of banning him from our iPods we felt more compelled to listen to him. Whether or not you agree with his behavior it has to be said that he was chosen to host the show BECAUSE of his potential to provoke a crowd. Check out his t-shirt messages here.
2. Morrissey hands Premio Leyenda to Cafe Tacvba at Los Premios MTV
Yet another amazing moment worth keeping in our October storybook of awesome. Singer Morrissey recognized Mexican legendary rockers Café Tacvba with an impeccable speech that truly captured their significance. When we tuned in to this we got teary and we were not alone, Los Cafetas, also got quite emotional to be receiving the award from a British musician they admire. Missed it? Watch it below:
3. Shakira everywhere
After her 'Loba' release, Shakira made a trillion appearances on TV. We found one video we're pretty sure you haven't seen unless you have a Shakira search alert on your computer, you freak. Enjoy, auuuuuu!
4. Kanye West is dead rumor
It is rude to be spreading such nasty rumors about celebrities, we know this. However, we still found Kanye's death story to be pretty funny. Not because we'd be happy if ego-tripping 'Ye died, but because we never thought anything could top the 'Gay Fish' song from South Park.
5. Dead Man's Bones
Sure it drives us crazy when actors turn musicians and have no talent to back it up, but we recently caught a Dead Man's Bones show in New York and were blown away by Ryan Gosling and Zach Shields. Yes, Ryan of The Notebook fame has pieced together this queerdo band with his fellow acting buddy and kids who sing creepy, fun tunes. Perfect for Halloween and that pumpkin latte, right? Residente's tshirts are the best. He makes a statement w/o opening his mouth. They're visual, you see them on every article, every photo, every video. I bow to him!
