Chris Brown cops plea deal in Rihanna assault case

CNN reports lawyers reached a plea deal in Monday afternoon's hearing under which Chris Brown will serve 5 years probation for felony assault.

TMZ adds Brown was ordered to stay at least 50 yards away from Rihanna at all times, is set to do 6 months hard labor and enroll in a domestic violence program. If he violates probation, he will serve a minimum of 4 years in jail.

Los Angeles judge Patricia Schnegg did not allow cameras in the court during today's preliminary hearing for Chris Brown's assault trial. 52 media outlets and a sketch artist, however, were be allowed to document the hearing during its two to three-hour span.

This was the first time the "Disturbia" singer took the stand at a hearing and spoke publically of the brutal February assault.

We think they're going way too easy on him with this plea deal.
