Fiesta! - Mexican Theme Party Tips

You don't have to be Mexican to love Cinco de Mayo! Check out these tips for throwing the coolest fiesta:

Decorate with plenty:

- Colors of the flag of Mexico - green white and red.

- Put on sombreros and some Mexican folk music, mariachi music ( or hire a mariachi band)

Activities/ Decorations

#1 Present each guest with a Sombrero and a shot of Tequila as soon as they enter the party. This will let them know that the Fiesta has begun!

#2 Decorate with Mini cactus plants, Bouquet of red, green & white carnations or other plants that combine the colors of the Mexican flag. Use real cactus plants or sombreros for your centerpieces.

#3 Give guest Mexican Cascarones Confetti Party Eggs-

Fiesta Confetti. Scatter this on your tables, on the floors (and inside your invitation envelopes. (A cascaron is an egg that is decorated much like an Easter egg and then filled with confetti. Cascarones are broken over the head for good luck.) Start with our Fiesta Tableware to set a festive table and add some of our other Table Decorations for a look that can't be ignored!

# 4 Piñata. Cinco de Mayo fiesta

Kids-Fill your piñata with candy, toys (superballs are fun) and small trinkets- for kids, adults-With so many margaritas and tequila involved in the celebration, you might want to add little packets of Alka Seltzer or aspirin.

#5  Optional choices to either sing or dance. The Mexican Hat Dance:

- Setting up: Mexican sombrero  and the “Mexican Hat Dance" music piece

- What to do:

Play the "Mexican Hat Dance" your  guest move in a circle around the hat. Clap to emphasize the beat of the music and encourage your guest to clap along. During the "Mexican Hat Dance" dancers step on the edge of the hat as they dance, clap and move around the hat in a circle.
